INTRODUCTION
ART is a company established in pursuit of the vision of a group of European leading figures in the global motor sport industry who, in cooperation with their Chinese partners, wish to assist and be part of establishing China as a leading nation in the world of motorsports. This will take place trough the localization and institutionalization of knowledge and expertise. Upon completion of the necessary preparatory and intermediate phases, the ultimate goal of ART, its employees and associates, is to successfully compete in Formula One – the pinnacle of motorsports.

QUALIFICATION
1. Skill
a. Degree – Masters degree in Engineering sciences (Mechanical or Aeronautical)
Please refer to Appendix I for a detailed list of indicative courses
b. Work experience
- Minimum of 2 years practical experience in the industry (aerospace or automotive) or inside a research centre
- Bonus if these working experiences are in foreign countries
c. Fluent use of personal computer general applications is mandatory
2. Personality
a. Passion for motorsports , especially Formula 1 (at least very motivated)
b. Motivated by a scientific and rigorous approach to problems
c. “Self-confident” when faced with a difficult challenge
d. Pioneering spirit (ie. a “fighters” spirit)
e. Ability and taste for working to strict deadlines (no “artists”)
f. A good “communicator” (open personality)
g. Enjoys team work
3. Language
a. Mandatory – good English, both speaking and writing
b. Bonus – another European language (eg. French, Italian or Spanish)

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The engineers ART are looking for fall into 4 categories:
1. Mechanical Design and Development Engineer
a. Job Description
You will be involved in all aspects of the car (or engine) project from initial design stage to performance improvement, generating your own ideas and turning them into viable solutions. Duties will include producing drawings for both production and prototype components, following these through with performing appropriate test work and analysis to identify or confirm improvements. This post involves structural stress analysis and optimisation of a wide variety of components and systems, correlation with laboratory, specification of tests and methods of developments.
b. Degree
- A Masters degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Solid Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- A degree in Composite Materials (car only) would be an advantage
c. Skills
- A sound knowledge of the practical aspects of engineering
- Previous experience in Hi-Tech component manufacturing would be an advantage
- Previous experience in finite elements analysis would be an advantage
- Some experience of a modern 3D CAD package would be an advantage
d. Training Provided
- Catia V5 or Pro/Engineer Wildfire
- Patran/Nastran stress analysis software
- Manufacturing techniques and process
2. Aerodynamic and Surface Design Engineer
a. Job Description
You will be involved in all aspects of the car (or engine) dealing with airflow and fluid mechanics, generating your own ideas and turning them into viable solutions. Duties will include producing drawings for both production and prototype components, following these through the performing appropriate test work in the wind tunnel and CFD analysis (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to identify or confirm improvements
b. Degree:
- A Masters degree (or equivalent) in Fluid Dynamics or Aerospace Engineering
c. Skills
- A sound knowledge of the practical aspects of engineering
- Previous experience in Hi-Tech component manufacturing would be an advantage
- Some experience of a modern 3D CAD package and surface design work would be an advantage
- Any modern CFD package or wind tunnel practice will be an advantage
d. Training Provided
- Catia V5 or Pro/Engineer Wildfire
- Fluent CFD analysis software and preparing and running wind tunnels tests on scale models
- Wind tunnel models and bodywork manufacturing techniques
3. Electronic Engineer
a. Job Description
You will be involved in all aspects of the car (or engine) control systems and on-car data acquisition, generating your own ideas and turning them into viable solutions. Duties will include developing control strategies, modelling their operation, generating target code for the electronic control units and carrying out system testing for both production and prototype components.
b. Degree
- A Masters degree (or equivalent) in Electronics or Linear Engineering systems (Control Systems)
c. Skills
- A sound knowledge of the practical aspects of engineering
- Relevant practice in Visual basic and C programming
- Previous experience in modelling/simulation of electronic control systems with mechanical/hydraulic elements would be an advantage
d. Training Provided
- Mathlab Simulink
4. Vehicle Performance Engineers (or “Race Engineers”)
a. Job Description
You will be involved in all aspects of the operation of the car (or engine) at race and test events, generating your own ideas and turning them into viable solutions. You will be involved also in all aspects of vehicle performance through vehicle model development, vehicle model validation against lab and/or on-car data, development of vehicle suspension and dynamic systems.
b. Degree
- A Masters degree (or equivalent) in Engineering
c. Skills
- Ability to work effectively with drivers and others engineers as part of a team
- Good problem solving and communication skills
- A sound knowledge of the practical aspects of engineering
- Any previous experience of race cars (or engine) will be an advantage
